General presentation

We are experiencing many crises and have many challenges ahead of us, forcing university communication to adapt its communication. At the EUPRIO conference you will learn about current trends and international best practices. You will be integrated into the interesting international network of EUPRIO.

We all are currently experiencing societal challenges such as wars, geopolitical disputes, climate crisis, energy crisis and new technological developments from artificial intelligence to digital transformation and the metaverse.

The EUPRIO conference addresses the challenges for university communication offices in a wide range. How do we organise social media activities in times of value debate, how do we deal with the loss of control in communication and how do we strategically bring ourselves into university management?

The numerous workshops cover the topics of internal communication, public affairs, science communication, events, marketing and social media strategies and how do we go into the future with our science festivals and above all how do we reach our target audience? This also includes marketing activities on a national and international level in order to attract students, PhD students and researchers to support our university leaders in providing excellent teaching, research and knowledge and technology transfer.

Welcome to Wien

Wien

Vienna is a vibrant European capital, one of the most beautiful and fascinating cities in Europe, with an incredible cultural and architectural heritage that owes a lot to its fascinatingly varied history rich of kings and queens, great empire, and a world-renowned culture. It is the former capital of a multi-ethnic empire, where in addition to German, languages as Italian, Croatian, Slovenian, Hungarian, Czech and Polish were spoken, and many different traditions and customs left an imprint. Being the capital of a melting pot of peoples has left a clear mark on the city, both from an artistic and cultural point of view, and from a social point of view. Its location on the banks of the Danube, its turbulent history and its being on the eastern edge of Europe have made it a city with a unique atmosphere.

The best way for appreciating this atmosphere is walking through the avenues of the downtown rich of monuments and museums and the parks of Schönbrunn Palace, where Emperor Franz and his consort Empress Sissi once lived. The castle itself impresses with its splendid rooms and offers a glimpse of the former imperial living rooms. Behind the castle, on a small hill, is the "Gloriette", a building inside the park, which can be reached with a short walk and offers a breathtaking view of the city.

When walking through the city, it is possible to discover beautiful example from Art Nouveau, to Gothic and Baroque, up to the famous "Ringstraßenstil", the architectural style of the ring road that surrounds the city center, the Ring, once occupied by the city walls and then became a city "boulevard" where some of the most important imperial buildings in Wien. In addition to the architectural charm, the city offers countless parks and recreation areas where you can enjoy some peace and quiet.

Vienna is also the classical music capital of the world where classical music can be heard in many places such as the Vienna State Opera, the Konzerthaus or the Musikverein.

Last but not least, Vienna is also one of the most fun cities to visit, with its nightlife, music and traditions. The coffee culture was practically born in Vienna during the siege of the city by the Ottoman army. Centuries have passed and over time a long tradition of café culture has been established, with the elegant and historic Viennese coffeehouses in their most traditional form. The Viennese cuisine is particularly rich, influenced by the many people who lived here, making Vienna a unique cultural melting pot.
