My name is Matyas, and l've been working at the University of Hradec Kralové since 2018. I have a PhD in Latin American politics, but it is more of a hobby, so I sometimes comment on news from Latin America on Czech TV and other media. While the public discourse has very limited access to verified infarmation, it is really hard to pass on relevant ideas. This led me to realize that universities are not separate organisms and that we need to interact with the generai public as often as possible. I once cycled from Hradec Kralové to Venice (about 1000km).
The University of Hradec Kralové is a small regional institution. That being said, we're one of the most internationalized universities in the Czech Republic. Almost every tenth student comes from abroad each year. This has placed a heavy burden on study and international offices, especially when communicating basic intormation.
The UHK Guide videos are aimed at international students' orientation to the basics of university studies and the city of Hradec Kralové. The series underwent a transformation as students' needs (and online behaviour) changed. We've also created an HK Guide - a similar approach taken to show not just students but also the generai public and visitors to Hradec Kralové what's up.
The first video was released at the beginning of 2018; now our dynamic (and very small!) team makes ali kinds of videos (with hundreds of thousands of views) that also serve as marketing tools tor our brand-building and recruiting campaigns. Matyas represents 50% of the team and he's sharing our know-how from the idea to writing the script, location and logistics, production, and promotion.
While the presentation provides a body of intormation on our activities, any feedback from participants at their institutions is highly appreciated.
