Aoife Taylor is based in the Science and Society Research Centre, Trinity College Dublin, where she works as a research project manager on the COALESCE project, while also undertaking a professional doctorate. Her research interests include science communication, citizen science, impact evaluation, social justice, art – science, arts-based research approaches and interdisciplinarity.
The European Competence Centre for Science Communication, powered by the COALESCE project, aims to support daily practices of science communication. We actively promote policies and foster science communication developments and professionalisation across the EU and beyond.
This workshop will unpack how science communication is both recognised and rewarded in research institutions, identifying key opportunities and barriers for professionalisation.
Participants will be asked to identify their related needs practicing science communication in their context, and share institutional strategies which respond to initiatives such as DORA and CoARA that may support this practice. The Competence Centre will be presented, exploring how it may align with the needs of the EUPRIO community. Insights from the session will feed into a COALESCE project report.
