1. Trip for the Historical Landmark Lovers – trip to the Rogalin Palace and the Kórnik Castle.

The Palace in Rogalin is one of the major Polish residences erected in the 18th century, some 25 km south of Poznań. It owes its fame from to the picturesque location, eventful history, intriguing architecture, and magnificent art collection.  The Palace grounds and nearby village are considered to be one of the most beautiful places in Wielkopolska. Magnificent specimens of old oak trees form here one of the largest clusters in Europe.

The Castle of Kórnik, originally built at the end of the 14th century is one of the few cultural treasures that was spared the hurricane of destruction of WWII. The ideal backdrop for a supernatural horror, the corridors of Kórnik represent a marvellous trip through time.  Kórnik Castle library rates as one of top five in Poland. Founded in 1828 it boasts over 400,000 volumes, including approximately 30,000 books over 150 years old. The prize possessions include a 9th century manuscript which is the oldest in Poland, a first edition of Copernicus’ defining work, De Revolutionobis, and a 16th century bible penned in twelve languages.

2. Trip for the Faithful – bus trip to see the two major catholic shrines in Poland.  Both located in the Wielkopolska Region.  First, the largest and most flamboyant church in Poland – Basilica of Our Lady of Lichen, built to resemble St.Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.  Second, the Cathedral in Gniezno, regarded as the spiritual home of Poland’s former monarchy.  Here Poland’s first five kings were crowned and it has been the headquarters of Polish Catholic church officials continuously for nearly 1000 years.

3. For the Sport-Oriented: nordic walking and stretching/light jogging around the Malta Lake and/or Poznan Citadel hill

4. For Water Enthousiasts:  boat trip on the Warta river starting near the Poznan Cathedral

5. For Wild East Lovers:  horse-driven carriage rides through the wild forests of Wielkopolska, with the taste of the local cuisine, a bonfire and a horse-riding lesson.
